I understand the mixed feelings you have here. On the one hand, we all expect to have a “perfect” or “ideal” teaching context, in which we can really put all the ideas into practices without any difficulties. On the other hand, we all understand in reality, there are more to deal with since it is human souls that we are dealing with rather than just the target language alone. I’m glad you are prepared to face the challenges with a determination to learn more so as to be well-prepared. The more teachers like you there are, the more hopeful our education would be.

Thanks for the idea you shared with me. Through your words I figure out that maybe I lack confidence in myself, so I do not believe that I have the quality and ability to become a teacher; that’s why, while facing to the failures in my teaching demonstration, I lose my faith to overcome it. Nowadays, many high school English teachers recognize the importance of conducting classes in the target language. Therefore, teachers’ speaking proficiency is seen as an important index in this field. However, of course, in reality, teachers need to be flexible according to many different factors. For example, while we know how good it is for students when they are given enough imput, we still take into account their level and ability. One thing that we teachers have to bear in mind is, “Never give up easily.” Some teachers find a good excuse of not using English when students or even parents ask them not to. Rather than give in, we have to explain the underpinning rationale and use proper strategies to invite students to cooperate. Both sides would benefit from the insistence.
