About Writing

For lots of English teachers, teaching writing is very challenging so it is common that writing class is replaced by regular English class. Many teachers claim that students can write by themselves and teachers just need to collect students’ work and correct errors. However, I’m fortunate to have a responsible teacher in senior high school. My teacher does his best to teach me how to write from a sentence to a paragraph. He also explains the skill of paraphrasing and summarizing thoroughly. Moreover, he meets us one by one and tells us the strength and weakness of writing. During the class, he asks us to read model essays and learn sentence structures or good words from articles. Therefore, it is very crucial to give guidance to students especially those who have no idea about writing. This is the part which Group 6 lacks. From this demonstration, it also brings an important issue, that is, the role of a teacher. Because students are changing, teachers must convert teacher-led style into student-centered one. Thus, it’s much better for Group 6 that teachers ask students to make a secret project: a play of Star War. If teachers play both actors and teachers in the same time, students may get bewildered about the image of teachers. In addition, it is easier for students to immerse in the class by performing the play by their own. At any rate, the role play of Group 6 really impressed us and they made enormous efforts on performance and preparation.

This passage is cited from the movie”Akeelah and the Bee” I have seen last semester and brought me a positive thinking. I firmly believe that everyone has unlimited talents and abilities. Do what you want to do and never give up even though you will confront a lot of adversities.
